Anti Poaching Device (AntiPoD)

30.007 Engineering Design Innovation
[ SUTD ~ 2022 ]

Problem Statement: Big cats such as Tiger and Leopards are frequently poached illegally and inhumanely for their fur.

Our team came up with an autonomous solution of staining the fur of the tiger permanently with a dye solution when the sound sensor located around the tiger's neck detects a gunshot fired from the poachers. The fur will be degraded by the permanent dye stain and thus, render it useless for other applications and protects the endangered big cat species.

MediBot

30.001 Structures & Materials
30.002 Circuits & Electronics
[ SUTD ~ 2022 ]

Problem Statement: Shortage of Manpower in Healthcare

MediBot is a Line-Tracking Food Delivery Robot that is able to transport food autonomously by following the line demarcated on the hospital floorings such that patients in the wards are able to receive the food delivered.

This helps to lessen the additional task of delivering food by the nurses and minimizes contact between patients and nurses especially in this COVID period

Robotic Arm Flywheel Shooter RC Vehicle

RoboClash Robotics Competition
[ SUTD ~ 2022 ]

Organized by the SUTD SOAR Club, this competition requires the team to design mechanisms for the RC vehicle that is capable of collecting balls and transporting them to a storage cabinet, which then dispenses a cube object to be transported to a designated location to score points.

Our team decides to go for the Robotic Arm as the main feature with the versatility to pick up balls and cubes from all directions and store the collected balls at the Flywheel Shooter, which would then be shot at the storage cabinet at an efficient pace.

Peltier-based Dehumidifier

10.023 Designing Energy Systems
[ SUTD ~ 2022 ]

Problem Statement: Reverse Engineering a Small Device (<15W) to Improve its Energy Efficiency

Our team sourced for suitable and better heat sinks that is able to dissipate heat more efficiently and redesign the internal heat flow framework of the casing such that the Peltier-based Dehumidifier is able to condense more volume of humid air at a faster rate with the same power input.

IAO Gateway

3.007 Design Thinking & Innovation
[ SUTD ~ 2022 ]

Problem Statement: How can we inculcate a more fluid motion of approach to checking in/out of the location such that it minimizes:

1. Interaction between the User and the

    Environment/Objects

2. Chances of Close Proximity

    Interpersonal Interactions

Our team developed a RFID Gateway Scanner with unique RFID ID Tags allocated to each member of the public such that for SafeEntry, they would just have to tap in with their id tags/tokens and their entry/exit movements would be automatically recorded by the system.

Hydroelectric Generator

10.017 Technological World
10.015 Physical World
[ SUTD ~ 2021 ]

Problem StatementRenewable Energy for Applications in Agricultural Sector

Using physic concepts learnt from the course, we were tasked to include the topics such as principle of energy conservation as well as electromagnetism to solve a real world problem

Our team decided on the concept of hydroelectric as a form of renewable energy source to power an Autonomous Irrigation System for agricultural application in rural areas where there are natural waterfalls or fast-flowing rivers to generate hydroelectric energy.

Oil Skimmer Boat

Engineering & Design
[ Singapore Polytechnic ~ 2016]
[ Engineering Academy ]

Problem StatementCan we design an Autonomous or Remotely Operated Vehicle that can be an Effective Oil Spill Cleaning system for public spots such as Singapore beaches?

Proposed Solution

1) Floating Boom will first surround and contain the Oil Spill

2) Skimmer will stick the oil spill onto a belt-driving mechanism which will then be scraped off by a scraper tank for storage.
